I use WASD to move and some times push #1 and 2 if I am running but most the time mouse. I just setup my screen to make it easier see below.

Plus a high DPI mouse helps, I use a Razer Lachesis 4000dpi.

Mouse speed

The computer industry often measures mouse sensitivity in terms of counts per inch (CPI), commonly expressed less correctly as dots per inch (DPI) — the number of steps the mouse will report when it moves one inch. In early mice, this specification was called pulses per inch (ppi).[10] If the default mouse-tracking condition involves moving the pointer by one screen-pixel or dot on-screen per reported step, then the CPI does equate to DPI: dots of pointer motion per inch of mouse motion. The CPI or DPI as reported by manufacturers depends on how they make the mouse; the higher the CPI, the faster the pointer moves with mouse movement. However, software can adjust the mouse sensitivity, making the cursor move faster or slower than its DPI. Current software can change the speed of the pointer dynamically, taking into account the mouse's absolute speed and the movement from the last stop-point. Different software may name the settings "acceleration" or "speed" — referring respectively to "threshold" and "pointer precision".

For simple software, when the mouse starts to move, the software will count the number of "counts" received from the mouse and will move the pointer across the screen by that number of pixels (or multiplied by a factor f1=1,2,3). So, the pointer will move slowly on the screen, having a good precision. When the movement of the mouse reaches the value set for "threshold", the software will start to move the pointer more quickly; thus for each number n of counts received from the mouse, the pointer may move (f2 x n) pixels, where f2=2,3...10. Usually, the user can set the value of f2 by changing the "acceleration" setting.

Operating systems sometimes apply acceleration, referred to as "ballistics", to the motion reported by the mouse. For example, versions of Windows prior to Windows XP doubled reported values above a configurable threshold, and then optionally doubled them again above a second configurable threshold. These doublings applied separately in the X and Y directions, resulting in very nonlinear response. For example one can see how the things work in Microsoft Windows NT. Starting with Windows XP OS version of Microsoft and many OS versions for Apple Macintosh, computers use a smoother ballistics calculation that compensates for screen-resolution and has better linearity.

Heres the link and Google you can find any thing by the way. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mouse_dpi#Mouse_speed

I use both. It depends on the build what combination.

For most farming builds I have required skills in order from left to right and use the top row of numbers on the keyboard. any attack skills are actuated by the mouse. I find this useful in that hand movements tend to be automatic and mouse movements are conscious - I prefer that required farming skills be as automatic as possible and the rest be used when they can.

For normal skills I mostly use the mouse. Though again I use some combination - skills one through four are done by the keyboard and the rest are mouse operated. This isn't as hard and fast as farming builds but it is more true than not.

1 2 3 4 5 v 7 f

Res in 7, which is the one I will click, because it's awkward and I don't feel like keying it.

Mouse is for kiting the rest of the time.

I played flagger and ele for the longest time and I've always had difficulties at moving away from the standard interface. I use 1-5 for my skills, and click 6-8 which happen to be long recharge or self use skills (glyphs, attunements, res sig, speed boosts, party heals). I also tend to move a lot with the keyboard for that reason, albeit I do switch to mouseclick when kiting.

The setup no doubt cripples me when playing other classes where all skills should be easily reached, such as warrior or monk, but I've always had a hard time moving away from my strafe/turn QWEASD movement.

Doesn't a High DPI mouse slow you down? Its great for some games (FPS') but i think you might have to tone down the resolution for GW.

Anyways, I use the mouse because I'm lazy and I don't really PvP that much.

I hold down right mouse constantly, and use number pad when monking in PvP for party targeting. Skills are numbered and Infuse = space bar. Try and match me Koreans!

Oh, and the top macro button on my Sidewinder is open inventory. The bottom one is priority target, so I can kill something on a spike or shutdown what my group leader wants me to if he calls for it to not do ANYTHING (when I play Mesmer) I had Leeloof crying a few weeks ago in HA (because Leeloof isn't really good on monk, and because umm, good Mesmer > Monk.

WASD user here.

I press 1-4 for those skills since they're immediate to my navigation hand, and skills 5-8 with my mouse since they're a bit further out of reach.

I have 4k DPI on my mouse. Macroed 2 buttons to switch between 2500 and 2000 (for more/less precision aiming in FPS lol), 2500 is noticeably more sensitive.

I usually just WASD and click the skills since anything else is too out of the ordinary for me and I don't feel like learning it. This is also why I don't monk in PvP, and I'm not a high end pvp player.

Mouse if I'm reading, talking on msn or watching tv (ie. multitasking), and the keyboard when I'm completely focused.

I use the arrows to move. I use the mouse to cast skills mostly but the numbers if the mouse pointer gets lost in the battle.

Both actually. It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm spamming skills, usually keys only. There are cases where I use both at the same time, depending on the skills.

Left hand KB = targeting enemies, activating skills, weapon swapping
Right hand KB = targeting allies, targeting items, movement
Mouse = changing camera angle, push-to-talk vent/TS

When you get properly into the game environment your thoughts transfer directly into actions of your avatar without any conscious effort, like you don't have to think which muscles to twitch while walking.

Hunting dinky little icons with mouse while losing sight of enemy/allied positioning and/or skill activation status = major fail
